AFTER LIVING IN CRANSTON FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS, WHAT WAS IT ABOUT ARTESIA THAT APPEALED TO YOU?
When we bought our home in Cranston, it was a rush purchase and definitely not our first choice, but we just moved back to Calgary from the U.S and had little time to settle in.
After we made the decision to downsize, we began to tour different south Calgary communities and came across Artesia.
We were impressed to find a community on the edge of the city that balanced countryside and luxury living so well. From stunning houses, expansive lots and a network of paths to an incredible sense of community, where everyone was proud of their homes. We fell in love. It was the perfect community for us and our dog, Chico.
Beyond the dramatic surroundings, serene ambiance and views of rolling hills, big prairie skies and the Rockies, for the first time, we could build a home around our needs, lifestyle and personality. This would become a home that felt like home – a dream home that we were building together.

HAVING JUST MOVED INTO ARTESIA, WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN THIS IDYLLIC COMMUNITY?
Where do we begin? There’s so much to love!
Artesia is more than a collection of homes. It’s a community living experience like no other, where our surroundings are just as beautiful and inspiring as our home itself. From picturesque views and beautifully landscaped green spaces to uncompromising architecture and winding network of tree-lined paths. Sipping a morning cup of coffee on our veranda and taking Chico for a walk, has never been more enjoyable.
After living in a large community like Cranston, Artesia was a welcome change. There’s a strong sense of community and camaraderie that exists among the residents. It’s encouraging to see neighbours get out, connect and watch over one another. Whether it’s simply saying hello or checking in to see how our move is going. It’s something truly special.
From South Campus Hospital, banks and nearby golf courses to upscale restaurants, boutique shopping, groceries and daily necessities, everything we need to live a comfortable life is just minutes away. When the mood strikes, we can shop or dine out at the nearby bistro at Seton Urban District or enjoy a sweet treat at Heritage Pointe. Artesia is just minutes from the pulse of south Calgary, making it a destination that’s begging to be explored.
AFTER GOING THROUGH THE HOUSE HUNTING JOURNEY YOURSELVES. DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS TO SHARE WITH OTHERS ON HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF THIS EXPERIENCE?
In our experience, do your research and take your time. Thanks to the internet of things, finding house hunting lists and guides has never been easier. There are even worksheets available to help identify your housing needs. By planning ahead, it will save you time and alleviate a lot of undue stress.
We learned quickly that when building a custom home, you have to trust the process. From beginning to end, we worked closely with Brookfield Residential to get answers to all our questions, and to guide us through challenging decisions. We could not be happier with the results!
Don’t rush big decisions like choosing your lot. Think about the way the sun rises, what views you will have, what will be beside you and even traffic conditions, especially if you have young kids. If you plan to have a large vegetable garden, choose a lot where you will get ample sunlight in the backyard. Consider all your options to find the right location that suits your needs.
